A Plea Specifically to Alice........
Or indeed anyone that knows the answer (which is probably everyone except me). You know I'm knitting the Shedir hat? I just looked at the chart. Hmmmm. Does it read from left to right on each line, or right to left, or zig-zag from one to the other? Maybe I should be able to tell by looking at it, but....no hope there! Actually, I'm thinking that once I know how to read the chart it's going to take me at least a month to learn and remember what the symbols mean. But I'll have a go.
I would really appreciate some assistance................Thanks, blogfriends.

Usually charts are read from right to left on right side rows and from left to right on wrong side rows....HOWEVER....as Shedir is knit in the round and there is no wrong/right side you would read all the rows from right to left.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at your knitting with rs facing you as you knit you knit from the right to the left so you follow the chart that way....hope that helps?
Wendy, thank you very much. I appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested in how Shedir turns out as I quite fancy knitting it myself
ReplyDeleteShedir looks a little bit too complicated for this time of the year but I've followed your example with Odessa and I'm hooked.
ReplyDeleteSorry Alice but..you're tagged. See my blog for details.
merry Christmas and a happy fiber filled year!
ReplyDeletesorry for delay... wasn't reading blogs over xmas. to reply, yes all right hand to left hand
ReplyDeleteI love Shedir and will definately knit it again, but this time, I'll only do 2 or 3 repeats of the straight pattern (before you shape the crown)- mine was way to long/ tall
ReplyDeleteIt only looks complicated; if I can knit it, you can, too :)
